Work in progress...
We are currently constructing Excel databases for various census records (household, agricultural, and mortality) for towns in Madison County. The Town of Fenner Excel file is below. As more are completed, we will begin posting them here for other researchers to access.
Instructions: these are direct transcriptions of the census agricultural schedules. Blanks are left blank in the spreadsheets. Unreadable data may also be blank. We suggest cross-checking the spreadsheet with the actual files for unreadable data. We are not responsible for errors or omissions if anyone else is using these data for their own analyses.
Ethics: While these census records are freely available online, please respect the names and identities of those involved. For some of us, these are family members an ancestors and family members and ancestors of friends and neighbors.
Recognition: if you are using these data for your own research, please acknowledge the 100s of person-hours of work that went into transcribing these. Acknowledgments can be made to the Settlement Ecology Research Group.
Collaboration and co-authorship: We are also always up for collaborations if you have an idea you'd like to pursue and would like our help.

Historic Maps
We have obtained all of our historic maps used for GIS analyses free from the Library of Congress. A search for "Madison County NY" will provide the 1853 and 1859 maps.
